Sound and Movement for Sound Care, with Vickie Dodd              March 19, 2021

6/26/2021

For our March circle, Vickie Dodd, world-traveling sound healing practitioner and instructor shared her expertise and helpful teaching about sound and movement for use as self-care. In this highly interactive presentation, we all reached into our body energy to express ourselves in vocalizations and movement, clearing and balancing our energy in the process. It was an illuminating and heart-felt sharing of Vickie's inspiring gifts. All of us on the call were so grateful for this time of learning.
The call was recorded, so that those who couldn't join us could watch later and those on the call will also find it useful to encourage deep self-expression.  Vickie's website,
sacredsoundworks.com/ offers more for those who want to delve deeper into this process of sound healing.
Many thanks, Vickie, for this time together.

Vickie Dodd pioneered the use of voice and touch as a bodyworker in the early 1970’s. From her beginnings, she perceived the world through frequency, energetic fields of geometry and color. This led to teaching others how to listen to themselves and to use their voices to recapitulate the memories and history that resides in their bodies. These teachings empower and educate the serious sound student to direct and evolve their emotional and physical maturation. She is the author of “Tuning The Blues To Gold: Soundprints” and has a new book “The Audible Body” that will be released in 2021. As director of Soundbody Productions she lives in Port Angeles, Washington, and teaches in Europe and many locations around the USA.

In this month's online Healers Circle, Penny Burdick and Varina Nelson shared 2 quite different energy healing techniques.
The first, Trauma Chakra Connection, is a variation of a basic Healing Touch technique that Penny & Varina learned at a Healing Touch Association of Canada conference last summer. This technique is useful for grounding & dealing with trauma, including that from the current pandemic. Penny demonstrated the technique on her mannequin client, Rosie, with Varina narrating. Penny's son, Phil, was the videographer, so that the video demonstration could be shared by all. Gracias, Phil!
The second technique, a simple method of Calling Back your Soul Fragments, from Doreen Virtue, was done together by all the participants in the call..

We had time in the call for participants to share what they are doing for self-care during this time of Distant Socializing. It was lovely to see each other virtually, although the after-presentation snacks and chatting were missed by all!

Penny Burdick is a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner/Instructor and Qualified Mentor, teaching Self-Care & Level 1 Healing Touch classes, mentoring HT apprentices, as well as having a private HT practice & offering treatments as a volunteer for VHOCC (hospice). She travels to Nepal annually to do volunteer healing work & teach. Tackling the Dreaded WDYD Statement, with Lindy MacLaine

Attendees at this month's morning Healers Circle had an opportunity to work one-on-one with Lindy MacLaine to identify the type of people who they want to attract to their practice, then design their answer to the “What do you do?” question in a way that will interest and entice these very people.
As a powerful healer, you need a way to tell people what you do that prompts them to either hire you, or refer someone they know, and this time with Lindy gave each of us  new ideas and inspiration for doing just this.

Lindy MacLaine is a life-long performer, published author, Toastmaster, Life Purpose Coach, and practitioner of Scientific Hand Analysis. She combines her skills to help healers and speakers identify, hone, and deliver their “magical message”—the one that magnetizes clients, gets them paid, and allows them to impact the world as their hearts long to do. We offer our gratitude to Lindy for sharing her expertise with our circle!

The editors of Reader Digest were on to something many years ago, as one the sections was titled “Laughter Is the Best Medicine”. In this pre-holiday evening gathering, Dot Bristow shared information about the benefits of laughter & play  for your physical, mental & emotional health,. then led us in some laughter yoga exercises. Just laughing together as a group is quite therapeutic, & helps relieve those pre-holiday, over-shopping stresses.
We also enjoyed a shared potluck meal & lively discussion.

Dot Bristow has been presenting workshops on the healing power of laughter and play to educational institutions, government and corporate offices, and service organizations for over 20 years. Originally from Nevada, she moved to Washington in 1988 and now lives in Sequim with her yellow lab Apollo. She has a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is a Reiki Master Teacher.
Many thanks to DOT for leading us in a fun evening together!

Forest bathing along Marymere Falls trail, with Kristin Halberg

What a delightful experience 6 of us had on Friday, Aug. 16 when we walked the Marymere Falls trail from Lake Crescent Lodge, being fully present, experiencing our surroundings with all our senses. Each of us posed a question to ourself, then slowly walked the trail alone, silently, open to finding the answer outside, in nature, or within our soul.
Birdsong filled the air. Mosses drape trees of all sizes, shapes and many varieties. The air is filled with the aroma of fir & cedar trees so familiar in our NW forests. The gurgling rush of water over pebbles in the trailside stream, then the low roar of the falls accompanied us.
On the return walk to the lodge, we stopped to share our experiences, each different. Then a shared picnic lunch on the lakeshore on this exquisite sunny cool day completed our time together.
Much gratitude to Kristin Halberg for planning & guiding our woodland experience!

Feng Shui a Room in your Home with Jan Butler

At this year's June evening potluck dinner and Healers Circle, we enjoyed a tasty selection of summer salads, fruits & other healthy foods. Following the feast, we had the chance to work with our presenter, Jan Butler, in learning how to make a room or our entire house more Feng Shui. Jan provided an overview of the different types of Feng Shui, and gave each of us some small gifts to promote wealth & happiness in our lives.
The ancient Taoist practice of Feng Shui
is sometimes described as the art of placement of yourself and objects within a space. It teaches us how to balance and harmonize with the energies in any given space—be it a home, office, or garden. The aim of Feng Shui is to assure good fortune for the people inhabiting a space.
Jan Butler trained at the Feng Shui Design School in 1997, & started her Winged One Feng Shui business that year. She also is a very gifted artist in stained glass, feather fans & intricate pine needle baskets, as well as custom framing. Among Jan’s many talents are reflexology, doTerra essential oils, Tarot card reading, astrology, & Kabbalah/Hebrew sacred alphabet studies, tea study, raising orchids and parrot rescue.

Our gratitude is offered to Jan for sharing her skills and some of her amazing art works with our gathered healers.

This month's Spring potpourri began with a delightful Chakra Clearing visualization from the teachings of Doreen Virtue, led by Penny. Once we were cleared & ready for energy work, Varina led us in practicing a technique for decrease/release of emotionally-charged issues from Advanced Integrative Therapy. Penny then introduced the group to a new "Gratitude Game", using special gratitude-related cards, that was developed by Lisa Mentgen-Gordon, the CEO of the Healing Touch Program. It was an opportunity to reflect on the people, animals & places for which we felt grateful, and to get to know one another on a deeper level, while having fun.
Penny Burdick is a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner & Instructor and along with Healing Touch, does Advanced Chakra Diagnosis & Treatment, Hara work for PTSD, advanced deep healing of body systems and crystal healing. She also gives self-care energy healing presentations in our area and facilitates the monthly Peninsula Community Drum Circle. Varina Nelson is a soon-to-be Healing Touch Practitioner Apprentice, Reiki Master-Instructor, Theta Healer, Akashic Records reader, former belly dancing instructor, and does Tellington TTouch for horses, dogs & their people.

Our thanks to Penny & Varina for leading this April gathering.
